Hot fuzz is a British movie that was released on 20th April 2007. It was directed by Edgar Wright who also wrote the script alongside Simon Pegg.  The genres included were: spoof,comedy,action,crime and horror. The main cast was Simon Pegg (as Nicholas Angel), Nick Frost (as Danny Butterman),Jim Broadbent (as Inspector Frank Butterman), Timothy Dalton (as Simon Skinner) etc.

 

Financial Information:

  • The movie's budget was $12 million.

  • In their release in the UK (that was on 14th February 2007), it generated £7.1 million.

  • In their opening weekend in the US (that was on 20 April 2007), it had the highest per-cinema average of any film form the top 10 week because the film grossed $5.8 million from only 825 cinemas. 

  • Hot Fuzz was able to beat their previous film Shaun of the Dead (which grossed $3.3 million in it's opening weekend).

  • It grossed $4.9 million in its second weekend of release while representing a 17% dip in the gross, which their cinema count also increased from 825 to 1,272 when Rogue Pictures expanded it.

  • Altogether, Hot Fuzz grossed $80,573,774 worldwide.

  • The film earned nearly twice of what Shaun of the Dead produced in the US alongside in nine weeks

Synopsis: 

The movie revolves around Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg), a police officer from London, who gets promoted and transferred to a calm and sleepy country village called Sandford. He gets partnered up with Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) and soon they become close buddies while 'accidental' deaths mysteriously start to occur.

Features used in the film:

  • Hot fuzz has many references related to other movies such as; 'Dead Right', Egdar Wright's amateur film which he has used some of the elements from there to Hot Fuzz. Some of the elements were the locations like the Somerfield supermarket.

  • A DVD copy of 'Shaun of the Dead' can be seen in one of the scenes filmed in the Somerfield supermarket when Angel was near the shoplifter.

  • Also, a scene from 'Shaun of the Dead' is seen in Hot fuzz which was when Nicholas was chasing the shoplifter and wanted to take a shortcut by jumping over three fences but with slight differences.

  • Supercop, Point Break and Bad Boys II were also seen in the movie.

  • Hot Fuzz has some scenes which are known from being clichés from other action movies.

  • You can also notice a similarity between Angels character with a character from The Wicker which was played by Edward Woodward.
